A sexual predator vigilante group aids in arrest of Fairbury man

Predator Poachers Southeast Texas, a Houston-based group known for conducting sting operations targeting adults attempting to engage in inappropriate activities with minors, leads to the arrest of Fairbury resident.

FAIRBURY, Neb --  On October 16, 2024, at 3:41 PM, the Jefferson County Dispatch received a report from Predator Poachers Southeast Texas, a Houston-based group known for conducting sting operations targeting adults attempting to engage in inappropriate activities with minors. The group informed dispatch that they had just completed a sting operation at Fairbury's City Park, where they encountered an individual allegedly seeking to meet a minor.

Deputies were dispatched to the park, where they made contact with both the organization and the suspect. All evidence collected by the organization was turned over to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, which immediately began its own investigation.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Donald D. Boomgaarn Jr. of Fairbury, Nebraska, was taken into custody. After further investigation, Boomgaarn was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of felony Attempted Sexual Assault by Electronic Device. He is currently being held at the jail.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information is still being gathered.
