BEATRICE – A Cambridge, Nebraska-based company that will be installing high-speed fiber in a City of Beatrice project, has been awarded several grants to bring high-speed broadband to other areas of southeast Nebraska.

Pinpoint Communications says it has received more than $5 million in grants through the Nebraska Broadband Bridge Program, for projects in rural Auburn, Tecumseh and Cook…..in a rural portion of Otoe County….in an area near Brock…..rural South Lake Moloney…..and a rural area south of Nebraska City.

The grants are part of a second order of funding…which involved 60 grants to 37 providers….for more than $20 million.

Projects awarded funding must be completed in 18 months from the Nebraska Public Service Commission order granting the Bridge Program support.  Pinpoint Communications officials say they are confident the deadline will be met by the projects that will reach an estimated 589 homes.

The Nebraska Broadband Bridge Act provided up to $40 million in two grant cycles for deployment of high-speed broadband networks in unserved, or under-served areas of the state.
