CRETE, NE — Doane University Women's Golf Coach Jim Danson has been making the transition from high school coaching to collegiate coaching, however, that has not stopped him from being recognized for the impact he has had on the game of golf in the state of Nebraska.

The Nebraska Coaches Association (NCA) has recently bestowed the Swede Hawkins & Del Schoenfish Golf Award to Coach Danson. The award, established in 2013, is given to coaches for "making significant contributions to high school golf in the state of Nebraska".

Danson came to Doane this past spring after a successful high school career. His final stop was at Lincoln Southwest H.S. where he led the Skyhawks to four boys and four girls state championships while also picking up eight runner-up finishes and 23 district championships. Danson was a two-time National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) finalist for coach of the year, winning the award in 2021.
