Marie A. Buhr

Marie A. Buhr, 89, of Adams died at the Beatrice Community Hospital on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. She was born on October 26, 1930 at rural Pickrell and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She attended Evergreen School. She married Donald DeBuhr on September 29, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church and lived and farmed near Adams before moving to Beatrice in 1994. She married Ervin Buhr on November 4, 2006 and moved to Adams. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell and was active in the women’s circle of the church, taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked at Gold Crest in Adams and the Beatrice State Development Center and volunteered at the Veteran’s hospital in Lincoln. She enjoyed her kids, grandchildren, family, children’s events, playing cards, flowers, gardening, and visiting relatives and friends who were homebound.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin of Adams; three daughters, LaDonna (Mervin) VanEngen of Lincoln, Patti (Wayne) Busboom of Beatrice and Cynthia Pittman of Panama; one son, Donovan DeBuhr and special friend Minnie Anderson of Lincoln; three step-sons, Dean (Carol) Buhr, James (Lisa) Buhr, and Scott (Jody) Buhr all of Adams; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren sisters-in-law, Angeline Oltman and Nelvadine (Glenn) Schwab all of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Anna Zimmerman Oltman; her first husband, Donald, who died April 23, 2004; grandson, Cory Busboom; great-granddaughter, Taylor Kleier; three sisters, Lena (Menne) Ideus, Helen (John) Jurgens, and Eleanor (Bill) Scheetz; four brothers, Dick (Violet) Oltman, Lenhart Oltman, Reinder (Lavada) Oltman, and Edward (Dorothy) Oltman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the American Lutheran Church of Adams with Pastor Nathan Metzger officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A memorial has been established to Shriners Hospital for Children and the Children’s Hospital in Omaha. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 8:00 P.M., on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., and one hour preceding the service at the church on Saturday.
