LINCOLN, Neb. - Having dropped just seven sets all year, boasting a perfect 33-0 record, the stage was set for Nebraska Volleyball to punch their ticket to another Final Four and maybe end the dream year with a national championship - but the Aggies of Texas A&M prevented that.

The Huskers bid at a reverse sweep fell short on Sunday afternoon, falling to A&M in five sets, thus, the season ends at 33-1.

“They [Texas A&M] played like they had 16 years on the court,” Nebraska Head Coach Dani Busboom-Kelly said. “I’m proud of how we fought back, we played our hearts out and we had a lot of things against us this week and we were still that close.”

“I got to tip my cap to Nebraska and I’m looking forward to going back and watching that match,” Texas A&M Head Coach Jamie Morrison said. “I think it may have been one of the most entertaining matches in the history of the sport.”

Nebraska fought back from a 2-0 match deficit to win Set 3 25-20, and would outlast the Aggies in a fourth set for the ages 37-35.

“That set showed that we weren’t just going to let them take it from us at our home gym,” Junior Harper Murray said. “It obviously didn’t turn out the way we wanted, but we showed a lot of fight and that’s something to be proud of.”

"Right before we went out there, we were like ‘We have more to give’… We collected ourselves and found our five, as we like to say,” Texas A&M Senior Logan Lendicky said.

As the Huskers end the year with a result that the players, coaches, and fans didn’t want or expect, Head Coach Dani Busboom-Kelly was proud of the team in her first year as a Head Coach and was proud of the fight her team put forth on Sunday.

“I think we maxed out,” Busboom-Kelly said. “What we had today, we maxed out… As the coach, I don’t feel upset. We’re not making the Final Four, we aren’t winning the national championship, but we maxed out today and we can walk away from the last game of the season feeling like we gave it our all and have no regrets.”

With the loss, Nebraska ends the year 33-1.
