Tractor fire contained northeast of Potter

Potter Volunteer Firefighters responded to a tractor fire northeast of Potter Tuesday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

POTTER - Firefighters from the Potter Volunteer Fire Department quickly contained a tractor fire northeast of Potter on Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in at 12:03 p.m. for a tractor on fire near Cheyenne County Road 50 and Road 81, nine miles north and two-and-a-half miles east of town. According to Potter Fire Department Spokesman Bob Hilpert, crews arrived to find a 2019 Case tractor and 2019 stalk shredder fully engulfed in flames.

Potter Volunteer Fire Department responded with two grass rigs, two water trucks and nine firefighters, along with assistance from the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office. Sidney Fire Department was initially dispatched for mutual aid but was turned around before arrival.

The tractor and equipment were owned by Jarred Berner. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
