BEATRICE – A Kansas man died in a high-speed fatal accident in Gage County, Nebraska late Sunday night.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Joseph Korber, of Bern, Kansas. He died at the scene of an accident about a mile west of Beatrice, just west of the intersection of West Scott and Southwest 61st Road.

Sheriff’s Deputies investigating say there were four occupants in a vehicle driven by Korber, traveling east on Scott Road at a speed authorities say was at least 100 miles-per-hour.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times.  Korber died at the scene of the crash. Sheriff’s authorities say one passenger was taken by ambulance to Bryan West Health Center, in Lincoln for life-threatening injuries, while the other two passengers were taken by ambulance to Beatrice Community Hospital, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say alcohol and traffic speed are suspected to be factors in the accident. All of the occupants were using safety restraints.  Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and the Nebraska State Patrol was assisting with accident reconstruction.

The accident happened at around 11:30 p.m.
