Beatrice woman arrested after highway assault incident

GAGE COUNTY, Neb. - A Beatrice woman was arrested following a domestic assault incident along a rural highway in Gage County.
Around 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, Gage County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault near a residence at 1837 S 82nd Road.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the altercation took place alongside the highway in front of the residence.
An investigation revealed that 36-year-old Martina Narvaez of Beatrice had been involved in an argument with a family member while traveling in a vehicle. Authorities say the dispute escalated, prompting the victim to exit the vehicle in an attempt to defuse the situation.
Deputies allege that Narvaez then drove the vehicle toward the victim, who was able to move out of the way and avoid being struck. Narvaez reportedly stopped the vehicle in the southbound lane while facing northbound traffic, exited the car, and chased the victim on foot.
Witnesses and video recordings reviewed by deputies indicated that Narvaez struck the victim multiple times. The victim told law enforcement that Narvaez slapped him about five times, pulled his hair to drag him back toward the vehicle, and then slammed his head against the car.
During the incident, Narvaez’s infant daughter was in the vehicle, deputies confirmed.
Firth Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to assess the victim for injuries. No information was released about the extent of any injuries sustained.
Narvaez was arrested and booked into the Gage County Detention Center on charges of third-degree domestic assault, child abuse, and a parking violation related to stopping in the travel lane of the highway.
