Donavon W. Trout, 91 years of age, of Beatrice passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. He was born on January 14, 1934 on a farm near Crab Orchard to Hubert and Vetra (Gariss) Trout. Donavon was baptized on June 11, 1939 at the Lewiston Methodist Church. He attended 1st grade at Lone Tree Country School, 2nd and 3rd grade at Armor Country School and then attended Lewiston Schools until his graduation in 1951. While he was in high school, Donavon got Rheumatic Fever and was bedridden for 1 year. After high school, he and his father bought and ran a filling station in Wymore and he learned mechanics working for Gene Vineyard. Donavon served his country in the United States Army from April 15, 1954 to April 3, 1957 where he served time at Fort Leonard Wood and Korea and was discharged as a Seargent. Donavon married Carol Ann Walbridge on February 2, 1958 at the Havelock Methodist Church. He returned to Beatrice and worked at Montgomery Wards. Donavon returned to mechanics and worked at Genex and later Carl Anderson’s for 26 years. He worked for Mr. Automotive, another small company and then started his own shop called Don’s Sprague Electric. After selling the shop, Donavon began working at Hidden Acres and Beatrice Country Club. After retirement, he worked for BSDC for 13 years. 

Donavon is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Steven Trout of Beatrice, David Trout and wife Janet of Filley; grandchildren, Spencer Trout and wife Asia, Mitchell Trout; great grandchildren, Cael and Cora; sister, Erma Smith of Bellevue; sisters-in-law, Shirley Back of Melbourne, Florida, Bonnie Trout of Wymore; cousin, Bob Glenn and wife Alice of Anchorage, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Trout; sister, Lila Rees and husband Kenneth; and brothers-in-law, Floyd Smith and Dennis Back.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Interment with military rites by the Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the mortuary.
