GUERNSEY, Wyo. -- A 65-year-old Gering man died in what is being called a "tragic swimming mishap."

The incident occurred July 12.

The Platte County Sheriff's Office received a report that a man jumped from a boat on the east side of Gray Rocks Reservoir and never resurfaced.

Authorities have withheld the name of the victim out of respect for the family.

Search and rescue dive teams from across Wyoming and a team with a drag sonar responded. The Scotts Bluff County Dive Team were also called.

Search efforts were suspended Monday, July 15. Authorities speculate the man might have slipped into an underwater cave or cavern.
