CRETE, NE — Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes this weekend in Crete.

The community kicked off its annual Great Pumpkin Festival with the Kids and Pets Parade on Saturday morning. The event had a superhero theme and participants responded. Spiderman, the Hulk and Wonder Woman were all spotted around downtown… with dogs and even a rabbit getting in on the fun.

The parade started on the south side of downtown and ended at City Park. A firetruck and police vehicle led the parade. At the finish, booths were set up with candy and toys for the kids.

The Kids and Pets Parade was a community tradition but hadn’t happened for several years. The 7th Annual Great Pumpkin Festival continues throughout the weekend.
