OVID, Colo. — Sedgwick County swept Leyton in Tuesday matchup between the two teams, with both the boys’ and girls’ teams securing victories at home.

Senior Abigail Dille led the charge for the Lady Cougars with a game-high of 22 points, 16 of which came in the first half, and the Cougars defeated the Warriors in the girls game, 61-35. Senior Keyana Ehnes contributed 14 points, while junior Lainee Nein added 13. 

Sophomore Ryen Carlson chipped in 9 points.

Sedgwick County’s aggressive defense forced multiple turnovers and fueled their offensive success, knocking down 11 three-pointers.

Leyton’s effort was led by senior Zaili Benish, who finished with 16 points.

Senior Shawnee Gamble added 10 points, and senior Sydney Fortune contributed 6. 

The Warriors managed to convert three three-pointers and shot 8-of-12 from the free-throw line.

With the win, the Lady Cougars improved to 10-3 on the season, while Leyton fell to 16-2.

Sedgwick County showcased balanced scoring with four of their five starters finishing in double figures. 

Senior Tate Renquist led the way with 19 points, followed by senior Jace Ehmke with 18. 

Sophomore Josh Palic contributed 14 points, while sophomore Noah Harens added 10. Senior Jaxon Carlson came close to double digits with 9 points.

Leyton’s offense was paced by sophomore Calvin Borgmann, who finished with 14 points. 

Sophomore Jeremiah Hajek added 12 points, while junior Alec Watchorn scored 7.

With the victory, both Sedgwick County teams advanced to 10-3 on the season. Leyton's boys' team dropped to 7-11.
