Adelia (Dale) Lillie Maatsch passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the age of 97.

Dale was born on August 3, 1926, in Bremen, Kansas to Walter & Clara (Sohl) Rengstorf. She was baptized on August 22, 1926, and later confirmed on March 17, 1940, by Rev. Kauffeld at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bremen. Dale was united in marriage to Fred Maatsch on February 1, 1948. They were blessed with 4 children, Gordon, Darrell, Mardell, and Clarice. Dale was a strong Christian raising her family in the Lutheran Church.

Dale grew up during the Depression where she learned about hard work, and she applied this work ethic in everything she did. If something needed to be done, Dale did it from tearing down a barn to remodeling their house to wallpapering for others. Many considered her a stay-at-home mom, but she worked diligently alongside her husband Fred, to create Maatsch Oil. Fred delivered fuel and Dale did the bookwork.

Dale had many interests, but quilting held a special place in her heart. By hand, she created beautiful quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dale quilted with the Grace Lutheran quilters and later joined the Jansen ladies.

In addition to quilting, Dale loved gardening and would spend many hours in her vegetable garden or tending to her many flowers.

Dale’s greatest joy was her family. She loved baking cinnamon rolls with her kids, cheering on the grandkids, and playing games with them.

Adelia Lillie Maatsch is survived by her children Gordon and his wife Debbie, Darrell, and Clarice and her husband Joel, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Dale is also survived by her brother Melvin (Lowine) Rengstorf, sister Lola Holle, sister-in-law Lola Mae Rengstorf, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by her husband Fred, son Mardell, daughter-in-law Jennifer Maatsch, parents Walter & Clara Rengstorf, brother Eugene Rengstorf, and sisters Verna Riggert, Elvira Carlson, and Alice Sears.
