Richard Dwaine Weishahn, 93 years of age, of Beatrice, NE went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Cedarhurst Assisted Living of La Vista, NE. He was born on a farm near Daykin on September 16, 1930 to Ira and Elsie (Bohlmeyer) Weishahn. Richard met Marian Mees months before he was to be deployed to Korea to serve from 1951 to 1953. They were engaged after basic training and married on December 11, 1953. Richard and Marian were married for 66 years and they raised 3 daughters and a son on an acreage in Beatrice. He was a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and led his family in faith with church and Sunday school every week and prayers before every meal. Richard enjoyed raising cattle, chickens, ducks, geese, once in a while a few pigs, hen turkeys, and one old Tom turkey, better known as "that big chicken."  He was an avid gardener with a huge green thumb.  Richard was known for his tomatoes and large onions. For years this couple attended the Beatrice Farmers Market where they sold their homegrown vegetables. Richard retired from being a UPS driver in 1992.  He was most proud of Marian, his family, and serving his country. 

Richard is survived by his four children, Sharon Wilkins of Omaha, NE, Joyce Martin Cronin and spouse Jim of Maryville, MO, Lynette Ruhge of Omaha, NE, Mark Weishahn and his spouse Julie of Valparaiso, NE; nine grandchildren, Dr. Chelsea Navarrette and her spouse Sean of Omaha, Kael Martin and his spouse Ashley of Kansas City, MO, Tyson Ruhge and his spouse Dr. Laura of Omaha, Andrew Wilkins of Milwaukee, WI, Jessica Settje and her spouse Zach of Raymond, NE, Jarret Cronin and his spouse Alix of St. Joseph, MO, Benjamin Wilkins of Omaha, Cassandra Weishahn of Valparaiso, Nathan Weishahn of Valparaiso; and eleven great grandchildren, Theodore Navarrette, Kason Martin, Eloise Marian Navarrette, Damian Ruhge, Penelope Martin, Nevaya Wilkins, Jude Martin, Josie Wilkins, Lincoln Cronin, Evelyn Settje and baby boy Ruhge; sister-in-law Diane Weishahn of Plymouth, NE; nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian on April 26, 2020; his brother Orlynn Weishahn, his sister Irene Weishahn and his son-in-law Bruce Ruhge. 

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 11, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Pastor Daryn Bahn officiating. Interment with military rites by the Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 1:45 PM that day in the church basement. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10th from 1:00 PM- 7:00 PM with family greeting friends from 5:00-7:00 PM. Memorials will be split between St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and  WorldServe International which provides water wells in Africa and is a humanitarian mission he had interests supporting.
