Kathleen A. “Kathie” Paben, 76, of Beatrice, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at her home. She was born on June 11, 1947, at Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1966. Kathie married Art Paben on August 21, 1964 at St. John Lutheran Church and worked side by side with him on the farm. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she belonged to the church circle and was a past member of PEO.  She enjoyed going to car shows with Art, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time with friends, and bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Art Paben of Beatrice; daughters, Patty (Chuck) Overton of Burns, OR and Julie Wright (special friend Fred) of Beatice; sons, Tim Paben (girlfriend Melissa) of Beatrice and Ted (Brooke) Paben of Beatrice; brother, Dr. Richard (Amanda) Gartner Jr. of Annapolis, MD; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and close friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Richard and Idris (Sell) Gartner; parents-in-law, Ekkie and Marie Paben.

Kathie will be remembered for her generosity, warm smile, kind heart, and will be missed by her family immensely.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Arden Dorn officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday in the chapel at the church. Interment will be at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Beatrice. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.  The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the family for future designation with Sterling and Naomi Kohrs in charge.  www.foxfuneralhome.net   Arrangements entrusted to Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Beatrice.
