Skutt comes back, beats Orangemen 26-15

BEATRICE - Beatrice was just a bit short of pulling off a major upset.
After controlling the game for much of the second half, Omaha Skutt pulled away to win 26-15.
Beatrice drove down the field with relative ease on multiple occasions in the first half, but Shelton Crawford would throw two picks, one at the 10-yard line of the Skyhawks. That was one of two interceptions on the night for Skutt linebacker Sam Brummund - Crawford threw three on the night.
A 20 MPH north wind made scoring conditions tough in the first half, until there six seconds left. Bennett Truman would find Iowa State commit Wyatt Archer on a 74-yard wheel route to put Skutt up 6-0 at half.
Beatrice would score twice in the second half, both runs by Deegan Nelson. He would score from 28 yards out and a yard out, but Skutt would deliverer the dagger with a 4th and 10 23-yard strike from Maccoy Holtam to Joe Connolly.
Skutt would score once again after Crawford’s third pick of the night.
The Orangemen fall to 0-3 with the loss. Beatrice is on the road again next weekend to take on Lincoln Northwest.
