PIERCE - The Pierce Lady Jays avenged an early season loss to Stanton on Thursday night, defeating the Mustangs 3-1.

Pierce jumped out to an early lead in the first set, and came away with a 25-18 set victory. It was the first set Pierce had won against Stanton this season, as the Mustangs defeated the Lady Jays 2-0 in the Columbus Scotus Invitational on September 7th.

The Mustangs would battle back in set two, as after a back-and-forth affair Stanton evened things up with a 25-22 victory. The match would move to a best-of-three scenario, and the Lady Jays took care of business in the third set 25-13.

In the potential match-deciding fourth set, the Lady Jays dominated the Mustangs from the get-go. Pierce would up a double-digit lead early on in the set, and Stanton was held to a single-digit score. Pierce closed out the set 25-8, and won the match 3-1.

With the win, Pierce improved to 7-16 on the season, and will head on the road against Guardian Angels Central Catholic this coming Tuesday. The loss dropped Stanton to 13-11, and they will head out on the road once more this next Tuesday to take on Twin River.
