Constance C. "Connie" (Carlson) Siefkes
After a courageous fight, Constance C. “Connie” (Carlson) Siefkes, 92, lost her battle with cancer on Friday afternoon, October 4, 2019 and went to be with her Lord. She had received excellent care the last two years at the Beatrice PEO Home. She was born on December 25, 1926 at Normal, IL. Her father was a pastor and they lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Massachusetts. She was the Indiana pianist of the year when she was a junior and senior in high school. She attended Kansas State University and received a liberal arts degree in music and English. She married Edmund Carlson in LaPorte, IN on July 5, 1947 before moving to Beatrice. She married Bernhard W. Siefkes on August 28, 1976. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and Sarah-Rachel Circle and had served on the church council. She was a 50+ year member of P.E.O. Chapter FM and had served as president. She enjoyed playing bridge and the piano, time with her family, and was a member of FortNightly.
Survivors include two sons, Ron (Pamela) Carlson of Decatur, TN and Lanny (Ann) Carlson of Lincoln; step-children, Phyllis (Loyal) Steube of Rogers, AR and Randy (Jan) Siefkes of Pasadena, CA; four grandchildren, Mya and Talia Carlson, Steve (Maggie) Carlson, and Mark Carlson; one step-granddaughter, Lisa (Kris) Korinek; two great-grandchildren, Rocco and Marlowe Carlson; two step-great-grandchildren, Josie and Kody Korinek; cousin, Marillyn (Robert) Anderson of Rockford IL; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Karin Johnson Erlandson; her first husband, Edmund Carlson, who died in 1969; her second husband, Bernhard (Ben) W. Siefkes, who died in 2011; parents-in-law, William and Lena Siefkes; three brothers-in-law, Emory Carlson and wife Helen, Ernest Seifkes and wife Toby, and John Siefkes
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Leah Lawson officiating. Private burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 12:45 P.M. on Tuesday in the chapel of the church. A memorial has been established to the PEO Home and Beatrice Humane Society. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Tuesday. www.foxfuneralhome.net Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
