BEATRICE – The one-day Big Give Gage event surpassed $150,000 in contributions to various area non-profits, on Tuesday.
One-thousand-168 donations registered a grand total of $153,272.
A lunch-time event was held at the Vintage Venue in downtown Beatrice, where several agencies had displays set up at a nonprofit fair, with information explaining what they do for the area.

People could begin making donations over a 24-hour period.
Gina Heckey is Executive Director for the Beatrice Community Hospital Foundation and the coordinator for the Gage Big Give event. She says it was difficult to predict what the first-time result would be.

A local dealership, Beatrice Ford-Lincoln holding one of their “Driven to Give” events outside, where people could test drive a new vehicle. For every drive taken, a donation to the Big Give was being made. In addition to the displays inside, food vendors were outside the Vintage Venue.
Many nonprofits compete for support within a community. Heckey says bringing them all together in effect, levels the playing field for support.
