GOP Congressman Don Bacon is accused of hiding in plain sight.

Democratic Congressional hopeful Ann Ashford says Bacon’s latest town hall in Waterloo found gun control advocates turned away from a meeting about gun violence.

A spokesperson for Bacon tells News Channel Nebraska that guns were just one of many topics that also included health care, immigration and the spring floods that devastated folks in and around Waterloo.

Ashford says Waterloo is almost inaccessible to many voters in the 2nd Congressional District and if elected she’ll hold town halls that are available to everyone.

Bacon’s spokesperson says the Congressman has held town halls across the district, adding the last two were in South Omaha in May, and near 69th and Dodge in March.

Ashford is running for the Democratic nomination against three others including Kara Eastman who narrowly lost to Bacon in 2018.
