A fourth person in connection with Fairbury homicide is now in custody
An additional fourth person was taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with the July 1st homicide in Fairbury. Realidy Schram, an 18-year-old female who grew up in Fairbury was arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol in Beatrice and is being held on accessory to second degree homicide.
Jefferson County Sheriff Nels Sorensen addressed the media Wednesday morning and said that the investigation into this crime is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
While the victim’s name has not been released yet, Sheriff Sorensen did say it is an African American male that is not a resident of Jefferson County. An autopsy of the body, positive identification and notification of family was to take place on Wednesday morning.
A Bond hearing was also held for the other 3 individuals who are believed to be involved with the Homicide.
Jerry Gilbert, a 25-year-old from Odessa, Texas is being held on a charge of 2nd degree murder. Due to the nature of the crime committed and since the investigation is still ongoing Gilbert was not granted bond.
Caitlyn Grable, a 21-year-old female also from Odessa, TX, is being held on accessory to second degree homicide. Grable’s bond was set at 10% of $250,000.
Trey Saathoff, 23, of Diller who was initially being held on drug and tampering charges now has accessory to second degree homicide added and bond was also set at 10% of $250,000.
The three are due back in court July 24th at 9:00 A.M. in Jefferson County Court.
The Jefferson County sheriff’s department was first contacted July 4th by the Beatrice Police Department after an informant gave information about a possible homicide at Crystal Springs Campground just outside of Fairbury.
Shortly after midnight on July 6th, the driver of one of the vehicles involved, 23-year-old Trey Saathoff of Diller was arrested.
On Sunday July 7th Jefferson County officials took Gilbert and Grable into custody after a short standoff with police. Then around 4 AM Monday the 8th, Gilbert led authorities to the location of the victim’s body.
